How custom backdrops can be used at commencement

At most graduation ceremonies served by GradImages, our photographers capture a ceremony portrait. This posed image – separate from the handshake photograph – is taken either immediately before or immediately after a graduate is recognized on stage.

When it comes to the background selection for ceremony portraits at commencement, a popular choice for many schools is a custom backdrop. These are typically made of sturdy cloth and measure 5-6 feet wide by over seven feet tall when fully assembled. Portraits taken in front of these backdrops have a unique style, and are often a family favorite. Additionally, our client schools benefit from the branding these images provide.  Click any image below for a larger view.

While it is possible to render these types of backgrounds using green screens, this technology is generally not recommended for commencements.  Click here to learn why.

If your school is a GradImages client and you’d like more information about custom backdrops, please let your account manager or regional field manager know. They would be happy to have our Creative Services Department design several options from which you could choose. Furthermore, your school would be able to keep the backdrop on-campus for use at other events during the school year.
